Professor Terry Royce
Dr. Terry Royce is Program Director at the Tokyo campus of the Teachers College Columbia University MA in TESOL Program and has been appointed by Teachers College (New York) to the Tokyo program. His research interests include the analysis of multimodality, discourse and cohesion analysis across disciplines (specifically scientific and economics discourse), the application of systemic-functional linguistics to discourse varieties and TESOL education, and the forensic linguistic analysis of police negotiators' discourse.
Professor Jim Purpura
Professor Jim Purpurais the Director of the New York TESOL Program. His special interests include language assessment, SLA, research methods in TESOL/AL, pedagogical grammar, discourse analysis, curriculum and materials development.
Professor Leslie Beebe
Professor Leslie Beebe is the Director of the New York Applied Linguistics program. Her special interests include second language acquisition, sociolinguistic variation, cross-cultural pragmatics, and English grammar and phonology. She has served as President of the American Association of Applied Linguistics, and has taught in Tokyo many times.
